At least nine people, including seven militants, were killed and two others injured today in violence sparked by rivalry between two feuding Taliban factions in Pakistan's restive northwest.

About 43 people have been killed in clashes which erupted on Sunday between supporters of Khan Said Sajna and followers of the late Hakimullah Mehsud.

Gunmen from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan's Sajna group attacked a hotel in the northwestern town of Tank, killing three militants from the Mehsud group and two civilians.

Two people were also critically injured in the incident.

The injured were shifted to the Headquarters Hospital in Tank district.

In a separate incident, four militants were killed when a Sajna group vehicle was attacked in the Shawal area of the South Waziristan tribal region which borders Afghanistan.
