At least 90 sheep have died and 500 others fell sick after eating alleged rotten fodder lying in agriculture fields in Madauli village here, a veterinary official said.
Blackened fodder and spoiled wheat lying in the field after recent rains in the village were suspected to be the main reason of illness and their untimely deaths in the last two days, the Joint Director of state veterinary department Yogendra Singh said here.
About 5,000 sheep were shifted from Jodhpur to Bharatpur district in search of fodder. Of which 90 succumbed to their illness and 500 are still serious, Singh said.

A team of veterinary doctors was called here from Bharatpur to take the stock of situation and provide relief to the ailing animal, he said.
Some carcasses were sent for post-mortem, he said. Many of the carcasses can be seen lying in the fields, he added.
