African student alleges harassment

An African national pursuing M.Sc at a private university here has alleged that he was harassed by a canteen staffer, police said.

The student filed a complaint at Knowledge Park police station today, alleging that he was called gay by the staffer.

The university has issued a show-cause notice to the canteen staffer, Joint Registrar of the university Ajit Kumar said.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suniti Singh said, "The African student had given a complaint, but later wrote to us saying the matter was settled mutually.
