AICTU conference begins at Chandigarh

At its 5th All India conference held here, the All India Centre of Trade Unions (AICTU) opposed the opening of retail sector for FDI which would render more than six crore people unemployed, an official spokesman said.
The convention also protested against the recent steep hike in diesel price and limiting the subsidised LPG cylinders.
It also demanded that all labour laws be implemented in the Special Economic Zone enacted by the government, he said.
About 275 delegates from nine states are participating in the conference.
