Alert driver averts accident, man crossing rail tracks saved

An accident was averted near Rampur Maniharan railway station here when an alert driver of a passenger train brought it to a halt on seeing a man crossing the railway tracks, GRP officials said today.

The incident took place last evening.

"The train driver applied the emergency brake just on time. Shabbir, a resident of Pool Jogian, escaped with minor injuries," a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said.

According to the police, Shabbir, in his twenties, has been admitted to a primary health centre for treatment.
