Allahabad HC commutes death sentence of 7 convicts to life imprisonment

The Allahabad High Court has commuted the death sentence of seven people convicted for killing a man to life imprisonment, according to the victim's lawyer Rajive Goel.
A bench comprising justices comprising Ramesh Sinha and Dinesh Kumar Singh passed the order on July 31, he said.
The high court has also acquitted three men convicted in a cross case, setting aside a 10-year sentence awarded by a lower court in November 2018, Goel said.
A man, identified as Naseem, was killed and several people were injured in a clash between two groups of people over a volleyball game at Harsoli village in February 2010, according to the prosecution.
The seven people convicted in the case are Sadiq, Shahid, Arshad, Rashid, Sarfaraz, Farukh and Mumtaz.
