Aluminium prices declined by 0.62 per cent to Rs 144.45 per kg in futures trading today as speculators cut bets amid weak trend overseas, easing demand at the domestic spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in September fell by 90 paise, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 144.45 per kg in a business turnover of 93 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August was trading lower by 75 paise, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 143.55 per kg in 1,347 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by participants in line with weak trend overseas amid easing demand from consuming industries in the physical market, attributed the slide in aluminium prices at futures trade.

Globally, aluminium slipped 1.4 per cent Shanghai Futures Exchange today.
