The passenger ship which had to be anchored mid-sea while on its way to the Andaman Islands due to a technical snag, returned to Visakhapatnam port today for repairs.

One of the generators of M V Harshavardhan was not functioning. A team of technical experts from Mumbai has reached here to repair it, traffic manager of Visakhapatnam Port Trust Jayade Vandanam said.

The repairs would take two to three days. All the 500-odd passengers were reimbursed the ship fare and also given lunch coupons, Vandanam said.

Most of them are labourers from north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha and were going to the Andaman Islands for work.

The ship left Visakhapatnam on Tuesday evening but had to anchor mid-sea because of the snag.
