Death toll from scrub typhus has reached 25 in Himachal Pradesh as another patient died at a hospital here today.

"The deceased, hailing from Kullu, has been identified as Dhyan Singh and was under treatment at the Indira Gandhi medical College(IGMC) hospital for the past few days," said Medical Superintendent, IGMC, Dr Romesh.

830 other patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state.

Scrub Typhus is caused by the bite of mites and rats in agricultural fields. The symptoms include severe headache, high fever and rashes, similar to that in dengue and malaria.
