A BJP member today expressed concern in Lok Sabha over the growing number of students committing suicide in the country and sought the appointment of full-time counsellors in the universities.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Prahlad Joshi said that examination stress, peer pressure, cricket betting and drug abuse were pushing the students to commit suicide.
Urging the government to seriously consider the issue, he demanded the appointment of full-time counsellors in the universities.
India has one of the world's highest rate of suicides, Joshi added.
