Arabul back in jail

Press Trust of India Diamond Harbour (WB)

leader Arabul Islam, arrested in connection with leading an armed attack on a CPI(M) procession and assaulting veteran Marxist leader Abdur Rezzak Mollah early this month, was today remanded to judicial custody by a district court till January 31.

Arabul was produced in the Baruipur ACJM's court shortly after his discharge from the state-run SSKM hospital where he was admitted on January 18 with chest pain while in custody.

He obtained bail from the court on January 21 in the case relating to the assault on CPI(M) leader and state's former minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah at Bhangar.

But in the case relating to leading an attack on a CPI(M) procession at Bamanghata, near Bhangar, and torching several vehicles, the court today remanded Islam to judicial custody till January 31.

The court, however, asked the jail superintendent to arrange for Islam's treatment from time to time.
