Arhar, gram surge on rising demand

Arhar and gram shot up by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on the back of rising demand against tight supplies from producing belts.

Traders said increased demand in the face of restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to surge in arhar and gram prices.

In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety jumped by Rs 200 each to Rs 7,300-7,450 and Rs 8,700-8,900 per quintal, respectively.

Gram, gramdal local and best quality also shot up by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,450-5,150, Rs 4,750-4,950 and Rs 4,850-5,150 per quintal, respectively.

Besan Shaktibhog and and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,080 instead of 2,030 per 35 kg bag respectively.

Masoor small Rs 6,600-6,700, bold Rs 6,600-6,800, Dal Masoor local Rs 7,650-7,750, best quality Rs 7,750-7,850, Malka local Rs 7,700-8,050, best Rs 7,800-8,100, Moth Rs 5,550-5,850, Arhar Rs 7,300-7,450, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 8,700-8,900.

Gram Rs 4,450-5,150, Gramdal (local) Rs 4,750-4,950, best quality Rs 4,850-5,150, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,080, Rajdhani Rs 2,080, Rajma Chitra Rs 4,600-5,700, Kabuli Gram small Rs 4,200-6,400, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,300-5,700, Peas white Rs 2,750-2,775 and green Rs 2,750-2,850.
