An 8-day long 'Golden drive expedition' by 11 Grenadiers was flagged-off today by Lt Gen G S Katoch (GOC Konark Corps) from the Konark War Memorial here.
The SUV-based expedition is to honour war widows and ex-servicemen affiliated to the 11 Grenadiers unit, which will celebrate its golden jubilee at Jaipur on October 1, a release said.
The team, in its journey of eight days, will connect five states including Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP, UP and Haryana, and will meet the families of gallant soldiers as well as veterans of the unit, it said.
The expedition is suitably titled "honouring the past and building the future" to symbolise army's recognition of brave soldiers, it added.
