ASI Sukhwinder Singh, who was posted in Sadar Samana district of Patiala, was caught red-handed while he was accepting the bribe, officials said.
The complainant, Dharm Singh, had approached the State Vigilance Bureau, alleging that the ASI was demanding the bribe for not arresting him in a case registered against him despite the fact that he had got an anticipatory bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, they said.
Folowing the complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red-handed and the money was recovered from him.
