Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today emphasised on the need to preserve the culture and heritage of tribal people, during a meeting with the chief executive members (CEM) of six autonomous councils of the state, an official statement said here.
The chief minister also asked the council heads to work for the promotion of folk traditions.
The soon-to-be-constructed 'Sahodar Sammanway Kshetra' near Rani, on the outskirts of the city, would provide an integrated platform to showcase the vivid cultural resources of the tribal societies to visitors, Sonowal said.
The government would be building Ekata Bhawan at Sadiya for congregation and cultural exchanges between the tribes of the state, he added.
The CM also urged the six councils - Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council, Mishing Autonomous Council, Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Tiwa Autonomous Council and Deori Autonomous Council - to identify land and invite potential investors for setting up organic industries.
The 'Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit' in February created a buzz within the business community at home and abroad, he said, adding that the autonomous councils must take advantage of this "positive environment" and extend all facilities to investors.
