Assam government has decided to remit the sentences of certain categories of prisoners on the occasion of Republic Day.
The scale of remission for prisoners with sentence above one year is 30 days, for prisoners with sentence above six months to one year is 15 days, for prisoners with sentence above three months to six months is ten days and for prisoners with sentence above one month up to three months is five days, an official release said here today.
The remission granted, however, shall not be admissible to a certain categories of prisoners.
This remission order will take effect from January 26.
