Associate of SGPC member arrested

Surender Singh Thikriwal was arrested yesterday by Barnala police from his house following information provided by Kulbir and a pistol was recovered, Deputy Inspector General of Police Lok Nath Angra told reporters here.
Police suspect that Thiriwal has undergone terror training in Pakistan and are investigating into it, he said.
The DIG said that on May 20, three kg RDX, detonators, two pistols and three bombs were seized in the neighbouring Navanshahar district from alleged associates of Badapind.
Two persons--Sandeep Singh and Sukhwinder Singh-- have been arrested while one Gurnek Singh is absconding. They were all trained in Pakistan, he claimed.
The DIG alleged that Badapind had links with terrorists who have taken shelter abroad.
"He has nearly 1500-200 friends on Facebook, most of whom are Khalistan supporters.... When we tried to probe his email account, we found that it was already deleted from Australia," he said, adding police are interrogating him.
Badapind was arrested on September 20 and a pistol, 6 live ammunition, cleaning substance for arms, night vision binoculars, two walkie talkies, bulletproof jackets and seditious literature were allegedly found among other things at his residence. He was remanded in five days police remand by a magistrate.
