One must be careful about information shared on a public forum, especially with the ongoing proliferation in the number of social networking sites, Vigilance Commissioner R Sri Kumar said today.

"Under the cases of cyber crime, insider sabotage was much more than external sabotage and one must be careful about the information being shared (online).

(One should) stay updated with the various malicious threats to (internet) security. Reasonable precautions should be taken while disclosing information on a public forum," Kumar said at a seminar on cyber security, organised by CII.

For a crime-proof ecosystem, he urged "more investments... to set up a robust infrastructure".

Echoing Kumar's views, Lt Gen VK Pillai, the General Officer Commanding of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, told the gathering that the number of companies coming under cyber attack was doubling every year.
