West Bengal Education minister Partha Chatterjee Wednesday described BJP as a 'circus party' with leaders whose criticisms in reference to the Majerhat bridge that collapsed have little importance for the general people.
BJP leaders in the state like Mukul Roy, Locket Chatterjee and Rupa Ganguly have criticised the PWD for failing to properly maintain the bridge which collapsed Tuesday evening.
Asked to comment on it, Chatterjee told reporters here "The words of these leaders carry little importance ... They are only interested in getting their pictures clicked at incident spots."
Chatterjee, who is also the secretary general of Trinamool Congress, said none of these BJP leaders have the "academic knowledge and expertise to speak on technical issues".
"BJP has turned into a circus party," he said adding he wished BJP state President Dilip Ghosh would "put a lid on the utterances of such leaders."
Asked who could be held responsible for the bridge collapse, Chatterjee said "We will certainly try to find out whose fault it was. But let us not politicise such a tragic incident.
