With an eye on north Indian votes ahead of BMC polls next year, the city unit of BJP today organised a morning musical to mark Diwali celebrations in suburban Dahisar.
The programme "Diwali Pahat (Dawn of Diwali) was attended by scores of north Indians as well as senior BJP leaders including local MP Gopal Shetty.
The concept of organising 'Diwali Pahat' was the brainchild of Amarjeet Mishra, general secretary of Mumbai BJP, who also runs a social organisation 'Abhiyan', working for social and cultural upliftment of people.
"All morning ragas (in Hindustani classical music) are basically religious and spiritual in nature. As commoners cannot sing them properly, we provided a perfect platform to people to celebrate 'Diwali Pahat'. We are happy that our efforts to give a musical touch to this celebration received accolades from society.
