BJP today demanded "immediate recall" of Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed for allegedly ruling the state from the "backdoor" without recommending dissolution of the state assembly which is under suspended animation.

Launching "Jail Bharo Abhiyan" against the continuance of the President rule, BJP MP Yashwant Sinha, state unit president Ravindra Rai and other leaders gathered at the district deputy commissioner's office, raising slogans demanding end of central rule.

"The Governor is working against the formation of a democratic government in the state. Ever since the President's rule has been imposed development has stopped and law and order situation collapsed. So he should be recalled immediately," Sinha alleged.

"We have been repeatedly demanding dissolution of Jharkhand Assembly and holding fresh election, which is the only solution," he added.

According to the Officer-In-Charge of Hazaribagh sadar police station Dinesh Kumar Singh, several BJP leaders, including Sinha, were arrested and were released on bail later.
