A dismissed police constable and his gangster nephew were today sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a BJP activist in 2007.
Additional District Sessions judge of Muzaffarnagar Dinesh Chand held dismissed police constable Naresh and his nephew Vipul Kumar guilty under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC, government prosecutor Sitaram Arya said.
Chand also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of them for the murder of BJP activist Rajkumar in August 2007.

Rajkumar was shot dead in broad daylight at his office in Kakroli town of the district on August 29, 2007, the government prosecutor said.
Following preliminary investigation, police had registered a case against Naresh and Vipul.
Naresh was posted at Mawana police station when the incident took place. Vipul had earlier been involved in several cases of murder, bank robbery and kidnapping in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, police said.
After the case was registered, the duo fled the area. Later they were arrested.
