Judge orders confiscation of jeep, utensils in Collectorate

After a ten-year trial, a local court today ordered confiscation of a jeep in the Collectorate here and utensils there for non-payment of compensation of Rs five crore to 14 landowners whose lands were acquired for a housing scheme.

The prosecution case was that ten acres of land at K K Nagar, near here, were acquired from 14 persons by the Revenue Department for a housing scheme.

A compensation of Rs five crore was announced by the administration but no amount was paid to them.

A landowner Nallasamy filed a suit in the Second Additional Sessions Court and the case was conducted for the last ten years.
 

In his order today, Second Additional Sessions Judge Balakrishnan ordered the immediate confiscation of the jeep and vessels in the Collectorate for not paying the amount.
