BJP names its candidate for Chitrakoot bypoll

The BJP today named Shankar Dayal Tripathi as its candidate for the Chitrakoot assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh, scheduled for November 9.

The bypoll for the seat was necessitated following the death of its MLA Prem Singh of the Congress. He had died in May following a long spell of illness.

A BJP statement said its central election committee chose Tripathi for the bypoll.
