Bodies of an unidentified couple were found in Mata jungle under Patamda police station area of East Singhbhum district today, police said.
While the body of the about 35-year-old man was found hanging from a tree, the woman in the same age group was lying nearby.
The woman had sindoor on her forehead, but it could not be ascertained yet whether they were married, police said.
Prima facie it seemed to be a case of suicide but some scratches were found on the body of the woman.
Police did not rule out the possibility of a love affair behind the incident.
The bodies were sent for postmortem.
