Major steel exporter Brazil said today it would take all necessary steps to protect its interests after US President Donald Trump slapped steep tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.
"Brazil reaffirms that it will resort to all necessary steps, in the bilateral and multilateral spheres, to protect its rights and interests," said a joint statement by Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes and Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Marcos Jorge.
Brazil is the second biggest exporter of steel to the United States after Canada.
