Burglary in 'Akali Mandir' in Birbhum

Burglars have stolen ornaments of the deities and valuables from the Akali Mandir' at Bhadrapur in Birbhum district, police sources said today.

This morning the priest of the temple found the locks broken, the sources said.

Debdas Bhattacharya, the priest of the temple told that the miscreants took away the ornaments of the deity and some other valuables made of silver.

Senior police officers with sniffer dog reached the spot. A broken box was found at a distance, the dog went up to the nearby river but no one was arrested.

'Akali mandir' was famous for its unique hexagonal structure and had an history of more than 300 years (it is associated with Maharaja Nandakumar).
