Bus fare reduced in Odisha

With announcement on cut in the price of petrol and disel, the Odisha government today reduced bus fares across all categories through the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

The fares of ordinary and express buses have been reduced by 1 paise per kilometer and by 2 paise per kilometer for deluxe and AC deluxe buses, a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department said.

As per the new price, the fare for ordinary buses has come down to 58 paise from 59 paise per kilomter, express buses from 62 paise to 61 paise, deluxe buses from 82 paise to 80 paise and AC deluxe buses from Rs 1.03 to Rs 1.01 paise per km.
 

As per the demand of All Odisha Private Bus Owners' Association, the state govenrment on June 4 had implemented the automatic mechanism for revision of fares.

According to provision of the automatic mechanism, the fare for ordinary and express buses would be hiked by one paise per km if the price of diesel is hiked by Rs 2 per litre. The fare of ordinary and express buses to be reduced by one paise per km if the price of diesel is reduced by Rs 2 per litre as per the automatic mechanism.

Similarly, the fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses to be hiked by two paise per km if the price of diesel is increased by Rs 2 per litre. The fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses would be reduced by two paise per km if the price of diesel is reduced by Rs 2 per litre.

The price of diesel was cut by Rs 2 per litre while the petrol price had been reduced by Rs 1 per litre recently.
