Bus-truck collision leaves 10 dead, 18 injured in Bangladesh

At least 10 people were killed and 18 others injured today after a passenger bus collided with a truck in northern Bangladesh, police said.

The accident happened at around 6am in front of an hotel in Dhankundi area of Sherpur, Bogra district, Officer in Charge of Sherpur police station, Khan Erfan said.

The crash had briefly halted traffic flow on the road. The injured have been sent to various hospitals in the area, bdnews reported.

Seven people, including the drivers of the both vehicles, died on the spot when the Bogra-bound bus collided with a Sirajganj-bound truck. Three of the injured later died while undergoing treatment at the hospitals, Erfan said.
 

Superintendent of Bogra Highway police Ismail Hawlader said they suspected the accident occurred when the driver slept off while driving.
