Cardamom up 1.2% on spot demand

Spice for delivery in January up by 0.42%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices today rose by 1.21% to Rs 1,095.70 per kg in futures market as participants created speculative positions, supported by rise in demand in the spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February rose Rs 13.20, or 1.21%, to Rs 1,095.70 per kg in a business turnover of 658 lots.

In a similar fashion, spice for delivery in January up by Rs 3.80, or 0.42%, to Rs 900 per kg in 2 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators following pick up in demand in the spot markets against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
