Cash and jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh was allegedly stolen by five robbers from a house in Model Town here today.
The gang entered the house of K K Jain, a spare-parts showroom owner and resident of Model Town, at around 6:30 am, overpowered him and his parents, locked them up in a room and made away with the cash and jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh, a police official said quoting Jain.
No family member was injured in the incident and they managed to escape through the room window and sought help from neighbours and alerted the police about it, the official said.

The family told police that they had kept the amount at home owing to a bank holiday today and it was payment for a consignment, to be delivered in a few days.
According to the cops, initial investigation has revealed that a total of four robbers wearing masks had entered the house and left within a span of minutes suggesting that the robbers were aware of the house specifications.
"The entire incident has been captured in the CCTV footage and while the footage shows four people, we suspect the involvement of another member of the gang, stationed outside the house as a lookout," the police official said.
Police said the involvement of a domestic help or a former employee has not been ruled out.
A case of robbery has been registered at the Model Town police station and further investigation is going on.
