Castorseed up 0.9% driven by spot demand

Delivery in June contracts gained 0.73%

Castorseed prices were up by Rs 36 to Rs 4,140 per quintal in futures trade today after participants ramped up positions, tracking strong demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for delivery in July contracts edged higher by Rs 36, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 4,140 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,61,170 lots.

On similar lines, delivery in June contracts gained Rs 29, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 4,026 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 1,04,650.

Marketmen said the rise in castorseed prices in futures trade was mostly attributed to rising demand in spot market against tight supplies from growing regions.
