Ceasework called in JU by teachers' bodies on July 28

The Jadavpur University Teachers' Association and All Bengal University Teachers' Association today called for a ceasework in Jadavpur University to press for various demands on July 28.

A JUTA press statement today said apart from ceasework, it's members would observe sit-in and fast at Aurobindo Bhavan demanding increment for M-Phil, PhD and M-Tech, fixing age limit of teachers adhering to the UGC recommendations, promotion of teachers (CAS) and introducing emeritus professor's post as per varsity rules.

Supporting the stir, All Bengal University Teachers' Association (ABUTA), JU unit Convenor Goutam Maity said, "while we offer support on principle to these demands we are also against the anti-democratic, autocratic policies of the state and central governments which will harm the overall interests of the education sector.
