Chana prices were down 1.24 per cent to Rs 5,474 per quintal in futures trade today as participants booked profits at prevailing levels amid a fall in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May declined by Rs 69 or 1.24 per cent to Rs 5,474 per quintal with an open interest of 17,790 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in far-month June contracts traded lower by Rs 58 or 1.03 per cent to Rs 5,577 per quintal in 12,030 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by traders at existing levels, easing demand in the spot market at prevailing levels against improved supplies after the government steps mainly led to the fall in chana prices at futures trade.
