The 26 wards of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) will got to polls on December 18, authorities said today.
Chandigarh Union Territory state election commissioner Rakesh Mehta said the election results will be announced on December 20.
With the declaration of the elections, model code of conduct has come in force with immediate effect, he said.

Filing of nominations will start from November 22 and the last date for filing them is November 29, Mehta said.
Over five lakh voters will be casting their votes in the civic polls, he said.
The current mayor of Municipal Corporation is Arun Sood from BJP.
