Two-time ISL champion Chennaiyin FC on Saturday announced the signing of Romanian winger Dragos Firtulescu on a free transfer for the 2019-20 season, while announcing parting of ways with Raphael Augusto.

The 30-year-old Firtulescu, who last featured for Bulgarian top tier side FC Dunav 2010 Ruse, said he was very happy to sign with CFC and looked forward to working with coach John Gregory.

"I am very happy to sign with the two-time Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC. I will work hard and prove that I am worthy of wearing the colours of this wonderful club," a press release quoted Firtulescu as saying.

Gregory spoke highly of the club's latest signing and said the former Romanian youth international adds a lot of depth in an attacking context for the team.

Meanwhile, the club announced it had mutually parted ways with Augusto, a talismanic midfielder and fan favourite

He played in four of the five seasons in the club's history and made 68 appearances in all competitions over that period, scoring seven goals.

With six goals and six assists in the ISL, his most important contribution was the goal he scored in the 2017-18 final against Bengaluru FC in Bengaluru.

The 28-year old Brazilian midfielder has moved to Bengaluru FC on a two-year deal.
