Chg: Over 68,000 metric tons of sugar produced in last fiscal

More than 68,000 metric tons of sugar was produced during the previous fiscal in three cooperative sugar factories in Chhattisgarh.

"The cooperative sugar factories of Chhattisgarh have produced 68,196 metric tons of sugar in fiscal 2013-14," an official statement here said today.

The factories are based in village Ramhepur of Kabeerdham (Kawardha) district, village Krerta of Surajpur district and village Karkabhaat of Balod district.

Nearly 7.70 lakh metric tons of sugarcane was procured from around 10,000 farmers and was crushed during last fiscal, it said.

A total of 4,43,063 metric tons of sugarcane was crushed in Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory in Kawardha where 38,551 metric tons sugar was produced while 21,512 metric tons of sugar was produced in Maa Mahamaya Cooperative sugar factory in Surajpur after crushing 2.50 lakh metric tons of sugarcane.
 

Besides, Danteshwari Maiyya Cooperative Sugar Factory in Balod witnessed 8,133 metric tons of sugar production after crushing nearly 1,03,931 metric tons of sugarcane.
