Press Trust of India New Delhi
Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on increased demand from stockists and retailers.

Besides, tight stocks following fall in supplies from producing belts and firming trend at futures market supported the upside in prices.

Red chilli and turmeric increased by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 6,600-12,600 and Rs 9,100-13,100 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said rising demand from stockists and retailers amid enquiries from neighbouring markets against fall in supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices.

Following are today's quotations:

Ajwain (per kg) 150-180, black pepper (per kg) 700-875, betel-nut (kg) 280-330, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,690-1,740 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,790-1,890.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 840-910, cardamom (colour robin) 790-840, cardamom bold 800-860, cardamom extra (bold) 1,000-1,020 and cloves 830-880.
