China develops new stealth tank landing ship

China has indigenously developed a "new type" of ship with stealth capability to transport landing troops, supplies and to conduct other non-combat military operations.

The "Tianmushan" is a tank landing ship that is 120 metres long, and 16 metres wide, with a displacement of 5008 tons, state-run CCTV reported.

The ship can sail at a maximum speed of 20 nautical miles per hour.

This new model has a good concealment ability, and the design makes it easier for landing equipment to load and offload, the report said.

The ship is equipped with artillery, and has a helicopter landing pad. Its major mission is to transport landing troops, transport supplies and wounded personnel, and to conduct other non-combat military operations.
 

Tank landing ships are used for amphibious operations.
