The police has imposed strict guidelines to ensure that there would not be any untoward incident in the city during the celebrations on the New Year's Eve.
Police had directed that all new year parties in the city should end by 12.30 am, city police commissioner R Hithendra said in a statement here.
The deadline was reasonable for a city like Mangaluru, he added.

A rapid workforce comprising traffic police and specialists had been formed to keep watch on those who drove vehicles in a drunken state and steps would be taken against violators, the statement said.
