: Around 3,000 personnel representing various units of Coast Guard Eastern region, students of various schools and colleges located in city and its neighbourhood, undertook a massive clean up campaign at the Marina here, on the occasion of International Coastal Clean Up day being observed, today.
The volunteers cleaned up the shores that were littered by various types of non-degradable wastes liks wrappings, plastics, bags among others as it would affect the health of coastal region, Coast Guard (East) said in a press release.
A road show was also staged on the occasion in order to sensitise the locals, about conservation of endangered species in association with city-based NGO 'Tree Foundation', itsaid.

Coast Guard Helicopter also carried out a aerial survey of the beaches in city,it said.
Coast Guard Eastern region, DIG, Thalha, Chief of Staff, Coast Guard Eastern region and DIG S Tyagi took part in the event which was inaugurated by Chennai Mayor 'Saidai' Duraisamy, the release said.
