Indian Coast Guard today rescued a 45-year-old woman stranded on a rock in a water body in Silvassa.
The Coast Guard's help was sought by the Union Territory administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli to press into service a helicopter for rescuing the woman.
According to a coast guard official, locals initially tried to rescue the woman but to no avail due to inclement weather.

"Despite marginal weather prevailing in Daman and its adjoining areas, a helicopter was launched twice. However, due to nil visibility in the area and incessant rains, the aircraft had to return to the base", the official said.
It was only in the third attempt that the woman could be rescued and was airlifted and dropped at a nearby park, the official said.
However, the official did not elaborate on the identity of the woman and how she reached the rock.
