Opposition Congress and NCP in Maharashtra today demanded a probe under commission of inquiry act into the allegations of corruption against BJP ministers.
Speaking on opposition's last week motion in the Legislative Assembly regarding corruption and allegations against ministers and law and order in the state, Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and NCP leader Jayant Patil demanded a probe under commission of inquiry act.
Vikhe Patil said Minister of State for Social Justice Dilip Kamble and Minister for Water Supply Babanrao Lonikar are accused of submitting false educational qualifications in their election affidavits and Education Minister Vinod Tawde is accused of having a bogus engineering degree.
Vikhe Patil questioned why Tawde wanted to hide his lack of educational qualification.
"Vasantdada Patil (former Chief Minister) was not educated but that did not come in way of his tall stature as a leader of the state. My grandfather was only 4th standard pass. But he was a pioneer of the co-operative movement in the state," he said.
Apart from Rs 206 crore alleged Chiki scam involving Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde, the LoP also highlighted the issue of Minister of State for Home Ranjit Patil's name in electoral roll of two constituencies.
Vikhe Patil also spoke on purchase of fire extinguishers in schools without inviting tenders by education department led by Tawde.
He said all ministers should be sacked.
Jayant Patil criticised Tawde for his remarks that he belonged to a poor family and could not afford education overseas like him and Prithviraj Chavan (former Chief Minister).
