Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today welcomed the passage of the Constitution Amendment Bill on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the Rajya Sabha even as he sought to give his Congress party the credit for it.

"Congress never opposed the Bill but there were some reservations on some issues but it has been cleared now," Singh said.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur lauded the Centre for getting the Bill passed in the Upper House yesterday.

"TheGST will bear a positive impact on the emerging environment of Indian economy. I would like to congratulate the central government for having the Bill passed," he said in a statement here.
