A constable posted at Mehdawal police station was arrested on charges of cattle smuggling here today, police said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rohan Kanay said that a few days ago, a truck loaded with cattle was caught and the driver was arrested.
He said that during investigation, it came to the fore that police constable Vinod Yadav was involved in cattle smuggling and the arrested truck driver had several clues for the involvement of the constable.
After the inquiry, it was proved that the constable was engaged in cattle smuggling following which he was arrested, the ASP said.
