Cop booked for luring, raping woman

A sub-inspector posted in Biora Police Station was booked for allegedly luring and raping a woman on the pretext of marriage, police said today.

A case under section 376 (rape) of IPC was registered against Sub-Inspector Dipankar Gautam on the complaint of a Bhopal-based woman, Biora Police Station in-charge, B S Thakur told reporters.

Gautam, who is absconding, was also booked under sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC, the officer said, adding efforts are on to nab him.
