Cop killed as his rifle fires accidentally

A police constable died today after being hit by a bullet accidentally fired from his service revolver in Jammu, police said.

Mustaq Ahmed of 19 Battalion of Indian Reserve Police was on guard duty at the state guest house for a meeting when his service rifle accidentally went off, they said.

He died on the spot.

Ahmed was on duty for a high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami.
