Cop killed, seven injured in road accident in Telangana

A 29-year-old Sub-Inspector was today killed and seven others injured after a car collided with a van here, police said.

"The incident occurred when the deceased Jilla Ambedkar attached to Lingapur Police station in Adilabad district was returning with his wife and his nine-month-old infant from Warangal district after celebrating Christmas," Assistant Sub Inspector of Manakondur Police Station Syed Saleem said.

"When the car reached Gattu Duddena Pally village, it was hit by another vehicle coming from opposite direction. Ambedkar's wife and infant, van's driver and four passengers sustained injuries," he said.

His body has been handed over to his family after post mortem. A case has been registered and investigations are underway, police said.
