Press Trust of India New Delhi
Prices of copper and nickel fell up to Rs 4 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists selling in tandem with weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment turned bearish after copper fell in global markets ahead of Chinese trade data and as concerns mount that defaults in the country may increase as the economy slows, curbing demand prospects in the world's biggest user of the metal.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.5 per cent to 6,635.75 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap fell by Rs 2 and Rs 4 to Rs 438 and Rs 1,060-1,061 per kg respectively.

The following were today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 117-123, nickel plate (4x4) 1,060-1,061 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 438, chadri deshi 285.
