Crime Branch to investigate two fraud cases of 'Golden Baba'

The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch has taken up investigation of two cases registered against fraudster Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias 'Golden Baba'.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Crime Branch Santosh Upadhaya said on Monday that following request from the Commissionerate Police, the EOW took up investigations into two fraud cases registered against Beura.

Arrested by the Odisha police last week in a cheque fraud case, Beura has four cases against him in Chandrasekharpur, Laxmisagar and Saheed Nagar police stations in Bhubaneswar.

The Chandrasekharpur case pertains to encashment of cheques worth Rs 12.04 crore and the Laxmisagar case is related to duping of Rs 4.50 crore from different persons by Jyoti Ranjan have been taken up by the EOW for investigation, the ADGP said.
